# Symbol SPT 1800

## Hard Reset
Per the [Product Reference Guide](http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=5133706apdf), perform the following steps to force a hard reset for this device:
- Open and remove the battery cover.
- Hold down the power button on the front of the SPT 1800 terminal.
- While holding down the power button, use the tip of the stylus to gently press the reset button on the back of the terminal.
- Release the reset button.
- Release the power button.
- When a message displays on the SPT 1800 terminal screen warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your SPT 1800 terminal, do one of the following:
- Press the upper half of either of the scroll buttons on the front panel of the SPT 1800 terminal to complete the hard reset and display the Digitizer screen.
- Press any other button to perform a soft reset.
